Phase 1 — Pre-Season / Foundation

1 April – 7 June (10 weeks)

Sunday training sessions plus three PVL grading rounds to establish division placement. Focus areas:

  • Fitness base and conditioning
  • Team bonding and culture setting
  • Skill fundamentals and system introduction
  • Establish rotations and positional combinations
  • PVL Grading (11–25 May) to test lineups

Phase 2 — Competition / Development

8 June – 17 August (10 weeks)

PVL competition rounds through championship, plus the first two Southern Zone tournaments.

  • PVL Competition Rounds 1–4 (8–29 June) — build game systems
  • School holidays (6–13 July) — focused training window
  • PVL Playoff (20 July) and Promotion/Relegation (27 July)
  • PVL Championship Rounds 1–4 (3–24 August) — intensity ramps up
  • Southern Zone 1 (25–26 July) and 2 (15–16 August) — tournament experience

Phase 3 — Peak / Nationals Prep

18 August – 10 October (8 weeks)

Peaking towards Nationals with high-stakes match play.

  • PVL Championship R5 (7 Sept) and Semi-final (14 Sept)
  • PVL Final (21 September)
  • Southern Zone 3 (12–13 September) — final tournament tune-up
  • Taper period (22 Sept – 6 Oct) — fine-tune set plays, recovery, mental prep
  • Nationals (7–10 October, Auckland) — season target
